Selling Victimization

Donald Trump has made a political career out of selling victimization.  It's never fair what he goes through, it's always rigged against him, there's always some conspiracy that's stopping him.  If he were just another co-worker for nearly anyone in the country, they'd be demanding that this freeloader be fired immediately.  Since he's occupying the white house, his supporters don't view things this way.  Why?  Because he pivots from his story of victimization to a story of successes and geniusness, false as they are.  His sons have especially taken this lesson and learned it well from their father and so it's not surprising to hear Donald Trump, Jr. making claims that anyone who opposes his father must want to see Coronavirus kill millions of people.  This is the twisted narrative of someone who will do anything to create emotional pain in the population so that those who both feel the emotional pain and also believe what he's saying will have no choice but to vote for him.  Trump supporters are regularly lead into these traps by Donald Trump that they can't break free from.  There's no way for them to not vote for Trump because to do so would be to admit that they have believed falsehoods and that their emotions have been manipulated.  The potential trigger to make them understand the opposite of what they currently understand is made less likely because of the fear and intimidation that the Trump team regularly injects into the political dialogue.  Why suffer the pain of admitting that you were wrong when you know there is an equally great amount of pain that you'll experience from those who you've abandoned?  Victims they will be.  Trump and victimhood are synonymous, but as long as they remain victims together, the supporters and Trump, then they are "winning".  To abandon this collective victimization is to "lose".  It makes sense to them.

Despite all of that spin from the Trump family of victims, the truth is that there have been a number of constructive attempts to paint a picture of what is not being managed well by Donald Trump in order that he may fix his mistakes.  The Democrats are actually making it as difficult as possible for Trump to continue to make the grave mistake of ignoring Coronavirus and they're using as much power as they have to force the administration to take it seriously.  

With the continued selling of victimization from the Trump administration, it is unfortunate that we now face a situation where there really are actual victims who are fighting for life against a serious virus.  It is sad that Trump is preoccupied with expressing anger at people who are trying to help him and help fellow Americans.
