Trump Taboos And The Trump Fallacy Machine

Franklin Delano Roosevelt led the USA to victory in World War II and turned around the nation's economy after Hoover led us into the great depression.  Contrast that with Trump, who 1) withdrew troops from Syria at exactly the same time when Turkey decided to cross the border into Syria and attack our allies, the Kurdish people and 2) has now announced an upcoming truce with the Taliban.

Trump has repeatedly sought to endear himself to enemies of the USA while hurting friends of the USA.  For this reason, we are in great danger as long as this man remains in power.

Roosevelt created the alphabet soup agencies because he believed a lack of (good and correct) information to be the central problem to the presidency.  He was not so arrogant as to believe that a man's instinct by itself would lead to the best decisions for the country, so he surrounded himself with experts in order to make better decisions.  Contrast that with Trump seeking to replace any member of any alphabet soup agency with someone who says what Trump wants them to say.  Information has been replaced by the great fallacy of confirmation bias.  If there is or has ever been any greatness in the vicinity of Donald Trump, then it is this great fallacy.  Of course there are numerous other fallacies that Trump commits on a regular basis, but the fallacy of confirmation bias is the angle from which he approaches anything in life.  Whatever he would like to happen or like to believe he will continue to shout, repeat and shout some more until dissenters are silenced in some way or another.

FDR didn't need to give large tax breaks to extremely wealthy individuals in order to create a great economy.  The economic boom that FDR brought about lasted so long after his death and his presidency that it stands out in the minds of investors and the common man as the impetus for the greatest economic boom the USA has ever known.  Contrast that with Trump, who inherited an economy that was on a positive trajectory for all but the very beginning of the Obama presidency.  What Trump has done to help the economy he has done by saddling the country with debt that future generations will struggle to pay down.  These ongoing Trump budget deficits are giving huge tax breaks to billionaires.  Trump has tightened the labor market by scaring away legal immigrants from coming to the USA in the first place, thereby making it extremely easy for citizens or anyone already in the USA to find a job.  Thus, the Trump economy is fueled by rigging a short-term view of the world where it's considered acceptable to hurt the long-term prosperity of the country in order to ensure that Trump's time in office is viewed as a prosperous time.

This great fallacy of confirmation bias that Trump loves so much has given him the narrative that America is great because the economy is great.  It has given him the narrative that immigrants are bad and he has the right to separate small children from their parents for months and months simply because they crossed the border without the government's permission.  Trump's confirmation bias has given him the narrative that it is smart to steal money from the Department of Defense in order to build a wall on the southern border.

Most dangerously, Trump's confirmation bias has given him the narrative that everyone around him needs to confirm everything he says...all of the time.  For that reason, his National Security Advisor acts as a disciplinarian against anyone who contradicts Trump's confirmation bias.  Trump has replaced his Director of National Intelligence with someone qualified only to enforce Trump's confirmation bias and ensure that taboos that Trump is most afraid of are never mentioned.  Anyone who contradicts Trump's confirmation bias becomes a target of his wrath.  Thus, Trump fears anyone who supports independent analysis.

FDR fixed our banking system and our economy.  These fixes served us well until the final year of the George W. Bush presidency (or the Reagan presidency, if you want to consider the Savings & Loan scandal).  We still feel the effects of the economic crash of that final year of the Bush presidency.  Perhaps it was because although it had rebounded for most of the Obama presidency, the rebound just wasn't enough and so the people elected Trump (based on the distribution of votes, not based on actual total quantity of votes nationwide, which favored Hillary Clinton).  FDR told us that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself, whereas Trump implies that violence may ensue when he doesn't get his way.

Donald Trump wants you to be afraid and he wants you to do as his party does and his appointees do: confirm everything that he says.  Trump will never be a Franklin Delano Roosevelt.  Nor will he ever be the Teddy Roosevelt that FDR admired so much.  With your help, he will be gone soon and we will be able to return to the motivational narrative, based on facts that Franklin Delano Roosevelt used to guide us through the devastation of the great depression and World War II.

We can have prosperity, national unity, optimism and a long-term view all at the same time, but we can't have those things under a president who seeks to stimulate hatred among his own people.  We can't have those things under a president who seeks to stimulate hatred between us and our allies abroad.  We can't have those things under a president who seeks to stimulate hatred between those of us who were born here and those of us who immigrated here.  We must replace Donald Trump in order to have peace and prosperity be something long-term and in order to do so in a way that doesn't cause so much pain, suffering and pessimism in the USA and in the rest of the world.
