Hyena Party

Following the insurrection at the Capitol last week, it's disheartening to learn of the members of Congress (so far, mostly democrats who wore masks) who have become infected with Covid-19.  Representatives Bonnie Watson Coleman, Pramila Jayapal and Brad Schneider have all become infected with covid-19 after sheltering from the insurrectionists with Republicans who refused to wear masks.  Some of them even laughed at Democrats who were handing out masks.  This is a good opportunity to point of some of the human flaws so common in Republicans in Congress at this moment in history.

Republicans such as Matt Gaetz will kindly sport a gas mask, at least temporarily, in order to make some kind of statement which they're not really able to form into words.  The gas mask stunt is symbolic for this inability to express themselves when it matters and perhaps that's why they've become married to all things untrue.  They can't say what they mean and they don't know what they mean, so lies seem to be effective in some way.  Laughing at members of the other party is another way for them to express themselves without having to use complete sentences that form complete thoughts.  Perhaps the best way to heal as a nation is to impose some type of basic communication test on anyone seeking office.  Until then, we can expect to find half of the country identifying with hyenas and our policies as a nation will reflect that level of consideration.
