Nazi Contagion

Covid-19 is deadly, but the republican party is becoming its human equivalent.  First the state Republican for Arizona has voted to punish the only brave voices they have in the fight against trump's corruption and cowardice through censure.

Now, the state Republican party for Oregon has adopted trumpism.  The Oregonian GOP is all on-board with conjuring horrible, painful lies in order to make donald trump look good.  Even though trump is gone from power and even though his voice online has been reduced greatly, he still has the Republicans trembling to cross him.  They have become full-on Nazis.

This news comes on the same day in which most of the Republican senators voted to strike down impeachment proceedings against trump on the grounds that they don't believe its constitutional since he is no longer the President.  The people can see through their partisanship.  There are only 5 honest and true Republican senators left in the Republican party:  Romney, Sasse, Collins, Murkowski and Toomey.  The other 45, including McConnell and the originator of the motion to dismiss the impeachment proceedings, Rand Paul, will mold themselves and twist themselves into whatever the trump family tells them.

All of this loyalty to trump, the ex-president, comes despite news that trump's actions to overturn the election so that Biden wouldn't be sworn in were greater than previously known.

Although the Democrats have the presidency and they remain loyal to the Constitution and to Democracy, the USA remains in a dangerous position.  With a voting system that doesn't facilitate new political parties, we can't easily replace one of the existing parties.  Thus having one party embrace Nazism, lies, foreign interference, etc. we have an unstable and unbalanced political system with a cloudy future.  On a positive note, there is hope for our election system to change, state-by-state as Alaska has, which would help ensure that the rot and corruption that is entrenched in the Republican party has a reduced chance of taking over the country.

As much as trump has sought to attack China, his disruption of domestic politics have given China a huge edge over the USA.  It has just been reported that during the final full year of trump's presidency, 2020, China surpassed the USA in foreign direct investment (FDI).  trump has weakened the USA and put us on a trajectory for both economic and social failure.

It is a matter of grave importance that the Democrats pick up seats in the House of Representatives and the Senate during the mid-term elections in the Fall of 2022.  A Democratic super-majority is needed in order to pass strong laws against the legacy of corruption and emoluments that trump has left us with.
